Army Southern Luzon Command commander and spokesperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) General Antonio Parlade, Jr. on Friday denied red-tagging actress Liza Soberano.
“Hindi. Actually, out of context ang mga nagko-comment na ‘yan,” Parlade maintained.
Parlade added that Senator Liza Hontiveros was misinformed after the latter said that the AFP official should not use his authority as a general to threaten and issue warning against Soberano.
“The good senator was not able to read my statement about that issue, second hand lamang ang pinanggagalingan ng kanilang comment, second hand information,” he noted.
Parlade explained that the statement he issued was addressed to the bashers of Soberano and not to the actress.
Parlade also accused Gabriela of allegedly exploiting celebrities.
I only want to educate them na walang mali sa ginagawa ni Liza Soberano. Ang problema lang siya ay nagagamit nitong Gabriela, especially with Makibaka, which is underground organization hiding under Gabriela,” he stressed.
Kami po trabaho namin sa gobyerno na i-educate si Liza Soberano as well as the netizens kung ano itong Gabriela na ito, as well as the other Makabayan bloc members,” Parlade said.
Parlade added that critics should read his original statement.
I’m sorry to say,” Parlade added.
At the same time, Parlade said he is not eyeing the position of the chief of staff of the Armed Forces.
“Please don’t threaten us about this confirmation whatsoever. Wala akong interes na maging chief of staff at wala akong interes na dumaan pa diyan sa Commission on Appointments. Let me just do my job, Ma’m, kasi ako binabayaran din ng taxpayers money, pare-parehas tayo, let us do our job,” Parlade said in reaction to the statement of Hontiveros.
