Two soldiers and two militiamen were injured when a landmine exploded in Ampatuan, Maguindanao, Friday morning, the military said.
Hurt were two enlisted personnel of the Army’s 1st Mechanized Battalion and two of the Civilian Active Auxiliary, according to a report from the Armed Forces’ Western Mindanao Command.
The four, along with other personnel under the AFP Joint Task Force-Central, were conducting road and mine-clearing operations in Brgy. Salman around 6:40 a.m. when the blast occurred.
Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan Jr., Wesmincom chief, said an anti-personnel mine exploded.
Vinluan added that the operations in the area were part of security measures to prevent local militants from carrying out “terroristic activities.”
The four wounded troopers have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
