CLARK — Alaska bucked a gritty Rain or Shine in the dying seconds en route to a thrilling 89-88 escape from the Elastopainters in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup Thursday night at the Angeles University Foundation Gym here.

Vic Manuel provided the heroics for the Aces by scoring six of his 18 points in the last minute to give his team its third consecutive win in the bubble conference.

Jeron Teng also provided a near double-double with 13 points and eight rebounds while big men Abu Tratter and Kevin Ebona chipped in 10 points apiece.

Sidney Onwubere led the Elastopainters with 16 points as they absorbed their first loss of the season.
