Rookie Yuka Saso dropped three shots in the last five holes to settle for two-over par 74 on Saturday in the penultimate round of the Fujitsu Ladies 2020 at the Tokyu Seven Hundred Club in Chiba, Japan.
The 19-year old Filipino-Japanese, who began the day just two strokes off the pace, now trails leader Saki Asai by five shots on even par 144.
Saso is tied for seventh spot with Asuka Ishikawa (71), Yuna Nishimura (71), Ayano Yasuda (74), Asuka Kashibawara (74), Sakura Koiwai (74) and Mamiko Higa (75).
Back-to-back birdies from the fourth hole brought Saso to 4-under for the tournament, but she gave them back with consecutive bogeys on 6 and 7.
She birdied 10 for the second straight day, bogeyed 11 and birdied 13 to go one-under for the day.
Asai, 22, collected six birdies against one birdie to shoot the day’s best round, a 67.
One shot behind was Jiyai Shin who returned a 70 highlighted by a hole-in-one on 4. She also had two birdies against the same number of bogeys.
Soenwoo Bae fired a 73 to take third place on three-under 141 while Hana Wakimoto (69), Mi-Jeong Jeon (71) and Mone Inami (73) shared fourth on two-under 142.
The 54-hole event stakes 100 million yen with the winner getting 18 million yen.
