Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino and his partymates formally filed their candidacies for the 27 November POC elections taking place in Parañaque.
A Tagaytay congressman and cycling chief, Tolentino completed his filing via email given the current situation, the same process that was followed by the members of his group, including 1st vice president Al Panlilio of basketball and 2nd vice president Richard Gomez of fencing.
Triathlon’s Tom Carrasco, running for the chairmanship, also filed his candidacy using the same process alongside Cynthia Carrion of gymnastics for treasurer, baseball’s Chito Loyzaga for auditor.
Making up Tolentino’s ticket are muay’s Pearl Managuelod, Dr. George Canlas of surfing and Prospero Pichay of chess.
Tolentino, who heads cycling, assumed the POC presidency in mid-2019, beating athletics’ Philip Ella Juico in a special election after boxing’s Ricky Vargas stepped down, whose unexpired term he will finish.
Challenging cycling head Tolentino’s bid to earn a fresh four-year term is archery’s Clint Aranas.
