Binigyan na ng green light ng gobyerno ang Philippine Superliga na ituloy ang kanilang pinaplanong beach volleyball tournament na may bubble set up.
Inanunsiyo ni Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque nitong Biyernes na pinayagan na ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease o IATF ang liga na idaos ang torneo na tatakbo mula Nob. 27 hanggang 29.
“We are now allowing, subject to conditions, the beach volleyball tournament of Philippine Superliga which will be under a bubble concept where they will be staying in a strict zone,” ani Roque.
Ikinatuwa ni PSL Chairman Philip Ella “Popoy” Juico ang magandang balita at sinabing resulta ito ng ilang buwang pagpaplano at paghahanda upang makapagdaos ng torneo sa kabila ng pandemya.
“We were elated over that news and it’s a big development to what we have been planning since the pandemic happened. We were told that it would be announced today because they had a meeting last night,” ani Juico.
Plano ng PSL na isagawa ang bubble sa Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, ang parehong lugar na pinagdausan ng Southeast Asian Games beach volleyball event.
“We have to meet with TV5 and our teams. We have to get this competition started with SBMA. We might have an emergency meeting this afternoon with PSL and the teams,” dagdag pa Juico.
Bagama’t wala pang final lineups, umaasa ang liga na maraming teams ang sasali sa torneo, na bukas din para sa mga koponan galing sa Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
