Nakapagtala ng magandang performance ang Filipino gymnast na si Carlos Yulo sa 53rd All-Japan Senior Masters Gymnastics Championships sa Gunma, Japan nito lamang Martes.
Nagtapos sa ika-labindalawang puwesto si Yulo sa 91 na kalahok na sumabak sa torneo na pinagwagian ni former world champion Kazuma Kaya ng may kabuuang 86.998 points.
Tumapos si Yulo ng may 83.398 at ayon kay Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion, maganda na ang ipinakita ni Yulo na sasabak rin sa Tokyo Olympics sa susunod na taon.
Nag-eensayo si Yulo sa Tokyo sa ilalim ni Japanese mentor Munehiro Kugimiya.
Ayon naman kay Carrion, kahit nagtapos sa ikalabindalawang puwesto si Yulo ay maayos ang kanyang ipinakita sa kauna-unahang kompetisyon na sinalihan niya matapos sumailalim sa lockdown ang Japan noong Pebrero dahil sa pagkalat ng coronavirus disease.
“He came out as 12th out of almost 100 competitors – that itself was already a great start for Caloy,” sabi ni Carrion. “It’s a big achievement. He had good scores in his events. Of course, there were some disciplines where he was not strong, but it was still okay.”
“We believe that the more competitions for Caloy, the better it would be for his development. “We’ll see if he can go to other competitions, but it would just be within Japan if ever. He still has a lot of months to prepare and continue training,” dagdag niya.
