World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight king John Riel Casimero is “ready to go” and upbeat about his chances of repulsing Ghanaian challenger Duke Micah on 26 September in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Before leaving Las Vegas, where he has been staying and training the last six months, Casimero tipped the scales at 121 lbs, just three off the bantam max of 118.
Once he gets to Connecticut, Casimero and his handlers, lead trainer Bones Adams, cutman Stephen Lunas and chief handler Sean Gibbons, will undergo swab testing.
But even if they all get cleared, Team Casimero and even that of Micah will be tested just before the official weighin on Friday, the eve of the bout.
According to Gibbons, Casimero is looking forward to making a huge splash this weekend.
