Authorities discovered a box of marijuana bricks in Bontoc, Mountain Province, while in Clark, Pampanga, the Bureau of Customs seized kush marijuana concealed inside imported coffee packs from California.

Bontoc police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Mountain Province found the abandoned bricks in Sitio Sukit, Barangay Samoki, after receiving an anonymous tip. No suspect was arrested.

The estimated street value of the 17 marijuana bricks, contained in a box, was placed at P2,040,000.

At the Clark port, some 980 grams of kush with an estimated value of P1.1 million were discovered inside imported coffee packs from California.

The shipment, which arrived on 8 September, was declared as “coffee, t-shirt and book.”

Physical examination showed three shirts, a book and three packs of coffee beans. But Customs examiners were alerted by the unusual sweet aroma of the coffee beans, prompting them to open the packs.

The shipment was subjected to K-9 sniffing and samples taken to the laboratory for testing and chemical analysis.
