We all know that excessive drinking is deadly.

A 17-year-old traysikad (manual three-wheel vehicle) driver may not have expected that even so-called energy drinks are dangerous to one’s health after he took one too many and died in Cagayan de Oro (CdO).

The victim was identified as Emil Baclay, who hailed from Barangay Kusina in Talakag Bukidnon.

Police report indicated the victim was found slumped on his vehicle, parked along Serena Street in Barangay Carmen, Cagayan de Oro, over the weekend.

Initial investigation showed there was no foul play.

Marlene Undayan, the victim’s aunt, said her nephew had no known pre-existing health conditions but had been drinking a branded energy drink excessively, sometimes in lieu of meals.
