A magnitude-6.3 earthquake rocked Sarangani, Davao Occidental, Wednesday afternoon, just hours after a similarly strong temblor occurred, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The latest quake struck 3:18 p.m., in waters located some 159 kilometers off Sarangani, the PHIVOLCS said on its website.
It was tectonic in origin, with the focus located some 73 kilometers below the surface, the agency said.
Earlier, a magnitude-5.7 quake occurred 208 kilometers off Sarangani, around 11:41 a.m. Its focus was located some 65 kilometers below the surface.
Both quakes are not expected to cause damage, but aftershocks are expected to occur, the PHIVOLCS said.
