5.8 magnitude quake hits Surigao Sur town

A 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit Hinatuan town in Surigao del Sur on Friday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The quake struck 34 kilometers northeast of Hinatuan at 2:06 p.m, Pagasa said, adding that it tectonic in origin with a depth of 45 kilometers. 

Pagasa recorded Intensity 3 in Bislig City while Intensity 2 was posted in Gingoog City of Misamis Oriental, and Intensity 1 in Surigao City, Cagayan de Oro and Kidapawan; and in Tupi, South Cotabato and the towns of Malungon and Alabel in Sarangani province.
