1 dead, 3 hurt in Abra collision

BAGUIO CITY — A motorcycle rider died on the spot while three other individuals were injured after a dump truck collided with a motorcycle at the Abra-Kalinga Road in Barangay Bagalay, Tayum, Abra on 17 July.
According to investigations of the Tayum Police, the dump truck driven by Herbert Navarro was traversing the road when the driver lost control, hitting a waiting shed along the road before colliding with the motorcycle driven by Rick Malter Tejero Briones, 19.
Briones suffered serious head injuries causing his instant death, while Navarro and his two unidentified companions suffered minor injuries. The rest of the truck’s passengers were unhurt.
Navarro is now under police custody awaiting charges to be filed against him.
Police said the road where the incident took place is an accident-prone area.
