The We Heal As One Center at the Philippine Arena in Santa Maria, Bulacan on Sunday sent home 180 recovered patients from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the biggest single-day tally so far.
The survivors are mostly overseas Filipino workers from the Middle East and Europe, while some are members of the Philippine Coast Guard and other patients from the National Capital Region.
They stayed at the 300-bed capacity Philippine Arena COVID center, one of the quarantine facilities put up by the government in partnership with the private sector for patients who have mild or no symptoms.
A send-off ceremony was held for the recovered patients led by National Action Plan Against COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon, Bureau of Quarantine Director and Facility Manager Dr. Roberto “Obet” Salvador Jr., Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Hans Leo Cacdac, and Department of National Defense Undersecretary Cesar Yano.
Dizon thanked the medical frontliners who took care of the patients who, he added, are going home after emerging triumphant against the potentially killer disease.
Buses were provided in transporting the survivors to their respective home destinations from the Philippine Arena facility.
