This Sunday, 21 June, GCQ (general community quarantine) or no GCQ, everyone is going to celebrate Father’s Day and honor the man of the house. The celebration may be different and eating out may not be an attractive option given the rules issued by the IATF, but it will nonetheless go on.

It will most likely be held at home, so the family can come together without much restrictions. And the food? A combination of home-cooked dishes and food ordered for delivery. Since Metro Manila and many other places are still under GCQ, which means that public transportation is still limited and restaurant operations are not yet 100 percent, a lot of people turn to online options with delivery arrangements.

Here are some of the best possible options:

Dalgona tiramisu cake by Gel Salonga-Datu

All of seven inches in diameter and four inches in height, the Dalgona Tiramisu Cake is priced at P950. Let dad indulge in a salted caramel chocolate cake from La Royale Patisserie by Chef Edward David Mateo. It is a classic cake with a twist, with layers of dark chocolate cake, chocolate ganache, chocolate gooey, salted caramel, chocolate flakes and cocoa powder. Six inches in diameter, the cake comes in an attractive but earth-friendly paper tub at P510. Also available in paper tubs for Father’s Day are ube cake (with layers of moist ube chiffon cake, custard, homemade ube halaya and ube whipped cream, P370) and Tres Leches Cake (super moist two-in-one cake — Crema de Fruta and Tres Leches Cake — soaked in three kinds of milk, plus a cream layer and fruit cocktail and jelly on top, P350). To order, call 0927-6724168, send a message through Instagram or Facebook (@royalepatisserieph), or visit La Royale Patisserie’s kitchen at 78 Mabini street corner E. Rodriguez Sr., Barangay. Beautiful as it is delicious, Bellefleur by Beatrix’s Ferrero Bucket Cake is made of alternating layers of moist chocolate cake, whipped dark chocolate ganache, a dozen Ferrero Rocher pieces (six in the cake and six on top), a hazelnut filling and drizzled Nutella on top. Not too sweet nor too heavy but as chocolatey as a chocolate cake can be, it is a 6.5-inch cake that weighs in at over one kilogram and is good for six to 10 persons. Since only a limited quantity of the cake is available while Metro Manila is still on GCQ, orders need to be placed two to three days in advance. To order, send a message through Instagram or Facebook (Bellefleur by Beatrix). Payments may be done through BPI, BDO, Metrobank or GCash. Pick-up or delivery can be arranged.
