With the pandemic, workplaces are more conscious than ever in adapting a new culture of safety and wellness for its employees.
The strain of the crisis has taken its toll both generally in business and among employees, which is why having a company that supports the safety of its team is a big morale booster.
This year, five companies were listed as The Philippines Best Workplaces 2020 by the Great Place to Work Philippines. Synchrony Global Philippines, DHL Express, Hilton, Canva Manila and Ingram Micro.
Great Place to Work Philippines is part of the Great Place to Work international organization involved in data analysis, which includes the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list since 1998.
According to its website, Great Place to Work conducts “the world’s largest study of workplace excellence and hold the gold standard benchmarks surveying over 100 million employees around the globe.”
Business process outsourcing company Synchrony Global Philippines, a subsidiary of premier consumer financial services company Synchrony, has been practicing a caring, open and unique workplace environment. This is one reason why it topped the prestigious list.
“I realized I walked into something very special, and that has been the main focus of my nine years here: Keeping that caring culture, grow it, and enhance it,” Synchrony Global Services Philippines CEO Michael Zolin explained.
With its “culture of motivated people” and having customers at the heart of everything they do, global logistics leader DHL Express sits on the second spot.
Through good communication, mentoring and knowledge sharing, web-based graphic design firm Canva Manila made it to the top three. Canva Manila’s country manager Yani Donato said, “I always go back to the team. It’s the people,”
Global hospitality icon Hilton prides itself on being called home and as “having another family” by its team members. This proposition transcends the definition of hospitality not just to its guests but also for its employees and communities.
Completing the top five best workplaces is the world’s largest wholesale technology and supply chain distributor Ingram Micro — represented in the country by Ingram Micro Manila Global Business Services Center — for its practice of translating technology into an everyday experience that is orchestrated throughout the employee’s life cycle.
According to Ingram Micro CEO Vigor Amador Jr., “I cannot even quantify the effort that has been extended by the leadership to make sure that we are all in sync when it comes to providing the right level of communication, the right level of engagement, the right level of support to our employees,”
In such a time where companies and employees need trust to build rapport for the success of the company, having a workplace anchored by values and a healthy working environment can go hand-in-hand to success and in making the company stand up and be back on its feet as productive and healthy as possible.
