Francis Wakefield

President Rodrigo Duterte reminded her daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, to be always true to her country and work hard for the people as she celebrates her 42nd birthday Sunday, 31 May.

In a taped video message that came out in Davao City, the President said by serving both her country and constituents well, the rewards will be great for the mayor.

The President, at the same time, told her daughter to just continue working and be good always.

“On May 31st is the wedding anniversary of my father and my mother. Both already passed away pero itong 31 is also important to me because it is the birthday of my daughter, si Mayor Sara,” the President said in the video.

“And Inday, alam ng, ni nanay nya, when I was cuddling the baby kasi Bisaya ako sabi ko I’d say I’d call her Inday and I, she will be a mayor of Davao City, also the mayor. Tama, on the dot ako dyan sa kanya.”

“So Day, be true to your country, work hard for the people and the rewards I think maybe are there made in heaven not here. Trabaho ka lang and be good. Happy birthday, I love you,” he added.

Duterte-Carpio, who was born on 31 May 1978, is Davao City’s first woman mayor and the youngest to have been elected to the position in the political history of the city.
