After the recent recovery of its last two patients, La Union announced the province is now coronavirus-free.
La Union Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” Ortega III stated “it is with great happiness that the province is now Covid-free.”
“One by one, our patients recovered. But even when our numbers dwindled, we kept our discernment as we embody the new normal that shapes the whole world,” Ortega said in a public address.
Data provided by the Department of Health Region 1 and the La Union Provincial Health Office showed the province has zero cases as of 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
Of the total 21 infected patients, 17 recovered while four died.
Ortega said that the war against Covid made everyone “a soldier with different roles but united in a common fight.”
He reminded his constituents the war is far from over.
“Let us now embrace the minimum health standards as a way of life, “Ortega said.
