Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Thursday appealed to his fellow senators to help hasten the passage of the National Housing Development, Production and Financing (NHDPF) Act.
The lawmaker sees the NHDPF as a way to decongest the National Capital Region (NCR) which is now reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding to its traditional concerns on poverty, joblessness and crime.
Go said the new coronavirus has surfaced the problem of congestion in Metro Manila. And for this, he asked his fellow senators to support the NHDPF Act.
“Our main objective is to give the people opportunities for work and progress when they return to their provinces,” Go said. “This vision is also in line with the Balik Probinsya Program that I have proposed and approved by the Executive Department.”
The Senator also vowed to support the Medical Scholarship Bill authored by Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto.
The measure aims to establish a Medical Scholarship and Return Service Program for deserving Filipino students who want to serve the country in the field of medicine.
Go said such measure is needed as the country faces a high demand for medical workers in the face of a pandemic
