‘Kundiman, Kwentuhan at Katuwaan’ Series 2 tonight

Performatibo Manila is presenting its second series of “Kundiman, Kwentuhan, at Katuwaan,” an online performance series of kundiman songs performed in social media.

The exciting performances of new generation Kundiman singers Alijah May Requillo Raz, Bernadette Mamauag, Greg de Leon, Hesusa Labaro Mosquera, Khevin Almario, Lorraine Lisen, Nazer Salcedo, Nolito Gregorio, Ron Biñas, and Zscharmaine Barretto will be streamed live through the Performatibo Manila Facebook page on Wednesday, 13 May 2020, 7 p.m.

Arne Sunico Lubasan is the pianist and Vim Nadera is the host/moderator of the show. This series will also feature the special participation of Prof. Harold Galang in piano.

Performatibo Manila and its creators, aim to share joy, entertainment and music in this time of the pandemic. It also seeks to give youth the opportunity to expand their knowledge and awareness of Fiipino music and culture through the internet.

Each performance series is accompanied with comprehensive and entertaining discussions on the history of the songs, the singers and the composers effectively engaging the viewers to take part in the discussion.

Viewers may also participate in the series by filming themselves while performing their own version of a favorite Kundiman song. They may send the videos together with their name, age, and address to [email protected] Mobile phones or digital video cameras may be used in creating the videos. The best interpretation of the submitted Kundiman video will be featured in the program.

Performers:

Alijah May Requillo Raz – Soprano
Alijah studied BM Voice at the University of Sto. Tomas Conservatory of Music under the tutelege of Philippine tenor Lemuel de La Cruz. She was a member of the world renowned University of Sto Tomas Singers and a former lead artist at the Venetian Hotel Macau for five years.

Bernadette Mamauag – Soprano
Bernadette finished her Bachelor of Music degree major in Voice Performance at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music also under the tutelage of Dela Cruz. Bernadette recently played Sisa in the Noli Me Tangere, The Opera 2019, at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Main Theater and received a nomination as Outstanding Performance by an actress in a featured role in Philippine LEAF Awards 2019. Bernadette is also an alumna of the world renowned choir the Philippine Madrigal Singers.

Greg de Leon – Baritone
A 2003 graduate of UP College of Music, Bachelor of Music Major in Voice, he was mentored by the late Prof. Emmanuelle Gregorio, Philippines’ prominent Basso-Profundo. Greg is a recipient of the prestigious Jovita Fuentes Music Cultural Society Scholarship Grant. While pursuing his Master’s degree in Theater Arts in UP Diliman, he taught Voice and Musical Theater at the UP College of Music Extension Program and at the University of Sto. Tomas Conservatory of Music. Presently, he is the Artistic Director of Erehwon Center for the Arts in Quezon City.

Hesusa Labaro Mosquera – Soprano
A graduate of University of San Agustin Conservatory of Music Major in Music Education. She is also vocal coach and a national winner Hotel Nikko and NCCA’s Kundiman Fiesta in 1990. Currently, she is a music teacher in Jakarta Indonesia. Vocal Coach.

Khevin Almario – Baritone
Khevin Almario is a singer- pianist, theatre actor, and a choirmaster. He is studying music at the UP College of Music, and is currently in his junior year, majoring in Voice Performance. He became part of several musicals of Repertory Philippines’ Children’s Theatre (RCT). He’s also part of the artistic team for Scrooge as the voice coach. Internationally, he was a chorus member of the original broadway musical “Singapura: The Musical” which premiered in Singapore in 2015. Notably, he was a Champion in Kundiman sa Makati in 2000.

Lorraine Lisen -Soprano
Lorraine Lisen is currently a student at the UP Open University taking up associate in Arts. She was a student at the UST Conservatory of Music Under Asst. Professor Thea Perez. She was a member of the Manila Vocal Ensemble and was able to join their European Tour in the year 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2019. She is an artist of the Philippine Opera Company where she was able to perform in different parts of the Philippines and in USA. She is currently a Cruise Ship Soprano for Princess Cruises, an Australian and Asian based cruise ship

Nolito Gregorio
Nolito C. Gregorio was one of the founding members of the University of San Agustin Troubadours the new generation. He is a member of the UP Kasarinlan under the leadership of Prof. Felipe Mendoza De Leon; a long time member-Mabuhay Singers and champion of the Hotel Nikko Grand Kundiman Fiesta in 1993. Nolito is also the Musical Director of Ihaw ihaw, kalde-kaldero, kawa-kawali at aawitan kayo, the home of the singing cooks and waiters atbp. Currently, he is a music, piano, art and voice teacher in Brunei Darussalam

Zscharmaine Barretto
Charm Barretto is a music enthusiast from the University of Sto. Tomas, Conservatory of Music taking up Music Education, Voice emphasis program under Asst. Prof. Ronan Ferrer. She is a soprano member of various choirs and theater organizations, some of which are Anima Christi Chorale, Coro Tomasino and Philippine Opera Company.

Arne Sunico Lubasan – Pianist
A respected choral conductor in the Western Visayas Region, Arne S. Lubasan has received several accolades both in the national and and international choral scene. Mr. Lubasan holds a Degree in Music specializing in Voice Performance from the University of San Agustin Conservatory Of Music in Iloilo City, Philippines. He has served as faculty of the same institution and conductor of the famed USA Troubadours from 1990 to 2016. He has served as interim Regional Coordinator for the Philippine Choral Directors Association in 2016. Likewise, he has served for two terms as Excutive Council Member on the National Committee on Music of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Mr. Lubasan is currently a Soloist of the Dubai Opera Festival Chorus and has performed as Tenor soloist in the performances of Mozart’s Requiem (2018), Handel’s Messiah (2019) and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony (2019). He is the Choirmaster of Dubai Camerata Singers which performed Vivaldi’s Gloria (2019) with the Dubai Community Symph
