The Social Security System (SSS) has extended its payment deadline for both contributions and member loans.
Contributions of self-employed, voluntary members and non-working spouses for January, February and March 2020 or the first quarter of the year can be paid until 1 June 2020 without penalties, the SSS said in a Facebook post.
Loan payments for February to April 2020, on the other hand, may be settled until 30 June 2020 without interests and penalties, the SSS added.
Qualified members will be automatically covered by the loan moratorium and need not file a request or application to SSS.
Details of the extended payment deadline for contributions and loans are indicated in Circular No. 2020-006 (Extension of deadline of remittance of contributions), Circular No. 2020-007 (Moratorium on short-term loan payments of SSS members affected by coronavirus disease 2019 situation (COVID-19) for applicable months of February to April 2020).
Also, to limit the spread of COVID-19 and for members’ protection, SSS highly encourage them to stay home and use the following online/electronic facilities to transact with SSS from the comfort and convenience of one’s home.
