The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday expressed its appreciation for the support of a local fast food chain in providing meals for their frontline personnel amidst the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak.

The Jollibee Foods Corporation delivered meals to Immigration frontliners on duty at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and BI commissioner Jaime Morente said that it is a major help for their personnel as it is very hard to buy food at the airport since most establishments are closed.

“At a time like this, bayanihan is important, and frontliners including immigration personnel who are still duty-bound to render services despite the risks truly appreciate these acts that allow them to continue their work,” said Morente.

Morente also thanked the other entities that have donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to the bureau.

“Concerned government agencies, politicians, and private entities heeded our call,” said Morente. “We are sourcing masks, alcohol, and other PPE but we are finding it hard to procure these as there is a worldwidelack of supply. We have a long way to go, and this resource gets depleted. Thankfully, we have received numerous support for our frontliners.”

Earlier the BI received facemasks and sanitizers from the Korean and Chinese Embassy, as well as other PPE from Malacanang, the Philippine Air Force, and the Manila International Airport Authority.
