NGCP donates P1B

The board directors of the National Grid Corp. (NGCP) of the Philippines on Monday bared a donation of P1 billion to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a letter to President Duterte, NGCP president and chief executive officer Anthony Almeda said half of the amount are in the form of goods and medical equipment to help the country’s front liners deal effectively with the virus that has disrupted the economic and social life not just of Filipinos but people across the world.

The other half is in the form of cash that President Duterte could deploy in however way he sees fit.

“On behalf of NGCP’s board of directors, particularly major stockholders Henry Sy Jr., Robert Coyiuto Jr., and the State Grid of China Corp., we would like to inform you that NGCP will donate P1 billion to aid our medical front liners to support the President’s efforts to combat the outbreak of COVID-19 in the Philippines,” Almeda said.
