A week into the enhanced community quarantine, majority of golf clubs in Luzon has set aside or distributed assistance to affected caddies and other contractual personnel.
Manila Golf and Country Club, Alabang Country Club and Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club (MSGCC) are among the premier clubs that have provided support in cash and in kind either through special assessments or donations.
Wack Wack Golf and Country Club has also released P3,000 for its caddies and P1,500 for its tee boys and umbrella girls.
Among public courses, Navy, Aguinaldo and Villamor led the way with cash assistance.
Outside Metro Manila, the other clubs that provided support to their non-salaried workforce are Valley, Forest Hills and Sun Valley in Antipolo, Anvaya Cove in Morong, Bataan; Ayala Greenfields in Calamba, Laguna; Orchard, Eagle Ridge and Riviera in Cavite; Mt. Malarayat and Summit Point in Batangas, Royal Northwoods in Bulacan, Beverly Place in Pampanga, Subic International Golf Club in Zambales and Tagaytay Highlands and Midlands in Tagaytay City.
Caddies have turned to social media to express their gratitude.
“Thank you so much Lord for touching all members of Alabang Country Club to support all the caddies, tee girls and ball boys. We salute you,” Jocelyn Saminstrado wrote.
Jocelyn Borcalas, a Southwoods caddie, posted: “Thank you so much to all members of MSGCC. It’s a big help for us and also to the management.”
