A member of the Philippine Marine Corps on Wednesday returned P1.9 million-worth of cash and ATM cards he found in Cavite.
The marine – identified as Sergeant Renee Boy Fresco – revealed that he discovered a black bag at the Marine Base Gregorio Lim in Ternate and it was later found out that it was owned by another corpsman who was assigned to distribute the food allowance of other soldiers.
“I checked the ATM cards and discovered that it belongs to a fellow corpsman. I returned it,” Fresco said in an interview with the Daily Tribune.
Fresco, who has spent 12 years in Marine service, admitted that this was the first time he had found a bag containing millions worth of money, but said he did not hesitate to return it.
“What’s important to me is that the full amount of money was returned,” said Fresco.
