Marinduque province Governor Presbitero Velasco Jr. on Wednesday appealed to his province to heed the government’s advice to stay home and do self-quarantine amid the first coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case reported recently.

In a statement, Velasco revealed that a man from Torrijos municipality tested positive of the killer virus and the man arrived last 2 March through a Starhorse ship.

“We are now tracing the five persons he made contact with,” Velasco said.

The Marinduque governor had called for an emergency meeting earlier to put and plan extra safety measures in the province.

He added that the Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19 in the province will implement high security measures for the sake of the safety of the residences of Marinduque.

“Follow the Department of Health (DoH) and the government’s advice to help us get back to normal life soonest. Stay home. Pray hard,” said Velasco.
