Cebu — Governor Gwendolyn Garcia Thursday night insisted that this province will not declare a “lockdown” as border control has been intensified.
“ There will be no lockdown contrary to rumors there will be no declaration as our border control has been in place,” she said.
She added that four Executive Orders (EO) on seaports and airports passenger entry ban has already been issued and in effect.
“We have 4 EO closing our airport on domestic flights which gradually was implemented within 24-48 hours and at our seaports which were gradually implemented within 24-78 hours,” she said.
Garcia clarified though that cargoes and goods are allowed entry to prevent shortage especially the rice supply.
The Cebu governor assured government is doing its part as she urged Cebuanos to fully cooperate and support in the fight against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Ginatilan police station apprehended on Thursday two Chinese nationals, who attempted to enter Cebu from Negros Oriental on board a pump boat.
Cebu Provincial Police Office director Police Col. Roderick Mariano confirmed the apprehension.
“It was the barangay officials who then told the police about the incident.They are aware of the ban of incoming passenger in Cebu province,” Mariano said.
The two have been placed under 14-day quarantine in a nearby quarantine center.
But the police was unable to apprehend the boat operator/owner as he was able to sail back to Negros.
