The actor took to his Instagram account Wednesday evening to share his relief over girlfriend and co-star Kim Chiu escaping death from yesterday’s van shooting incident.

Xian posted a black picture on his verified Instagram account, @xianlimm, and wrote: “Thank you to everyone who expressed their prayers and concern. We can never explain why these horrible things happen. Thankfully there are no casualties. Thank you, God for always being by our side.”

Chiu was on her way to a taping for their currently airing soap, Love Thy Woman, when she was awoken by gun shots.

The Quezon City Police District reported that the actress’ black van was fired at by two unidentified gunmen who pumped six bullets then fled aboard a motorcycle. The incident happened in the corner of C.P. Garcia and Katipunan Avenues in Quezon City. There are no leads yet regarding the plate number and identity of the gunmen.

The actress, her driver Wilfredo Taperla and her personal assistant were unharmed. After the incident, the actress headed straight to the taping location.

Hours after the incident she allayed the public’s fears on her safety via her verified Instagram account, @chinitaprincess. She also shared her sentiments.

“I don’t have an idea what really happened, mistaken identity? I guess?? Napag-tripan?.. This is a bad joke,” part of her post read. She added that she was lying on her side of the car after deciding to take a break from reading her script when the incident occurred.

Chiu gave her first interview after the incident with ABS-CBN entertainment reporter MJ Felipe hours after the shooting incident. She said that she was able to shoot two more taping scenes despite the incident, saying it was her “instinct” and “adrenaline rush” that made her continue working.

Her home network, ABS-CBN, issued a statement yesterday.

“ABS-CBN condemns the shooting incident this morning involving the vehicle carrying its artist Kim Chiu, her personal assistant, and her driver in Quezon City. The network is relieved that none of them got hurt and is taking measures to ensure their safety. Our priority now is attending to their needs as they cope with this traumatic experience. ABS-CBN would like to thank the authorities for quickly responding to the incident and securing Kim and her companions. We are currently working closely with the authorities who are investigating the incident in the hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice,” the full statement read.
