Seven for FCCP’s 40th!

The Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP) celebrated its 40th anniversary featuring Philippine couture created by seven Filipino designers at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La Hotel in Makati.

The seven designers who showed the best of their creations, all fantastic in a way that has never been seen before, were Ronaldo Arnoldo, Peri Diaz, Roulette Esmilla, Vania Romoff, Marc Rancy, Edgar San Diego and Ruben Santos.

Mind you, the well-dressed crowd didn’t just come to party and see and be seen. They had a purpose. The Fashion Gala was for the benefit of the FCCP Scholarship Program and other FCCP projects.

And this being the 40th or the ruby anniversary of this organization of art patrons founded by no less than the late grand dame, Chito Madrigal Collantes, Ruby, this time, aptly stands for Revisit, Uplift, & Broaden Your Cultural Awareness. Indeed, this organization, a favorite among Manila’s social set, has come a long way. While it used to focus on assisting the Cultural Center of the Philippines, it has widened its horizons by contributing to cultural and artistic causes of other equally deserving cultural and artistic organizations and institutions. The members themselves visit the provinces to see heritage homes, churches and museums, sample local delicacies, observe local festivals and visit local craftsmen right in their workshops.

This grand 40th celebration offered a delicious

five-course, sit-down dinner while featuring a wide LED screen covering the entire back wall of the stage, making the exquisite couture collection of the designers worn and displayed by their models and muses even more attractive and striking to the glamorous eyes of the discriminating audience.

It was great to see many friends joining the fashion show. As usual, I cheered for my besties who walked down the ramp in their elegant and fantastic best. With all those fabulous gowns, with Mache Torres as the finale muse, we all enjoyed the show.

Congratulations to the FCCP Committee especially Tita Mimii Valerio, Nelia Sarcol and the Board of Directors. Till next year again.

PS. I wore a Dobbie Aranda gown, making me feel like a woman of style, thanks to my favorite couturier. But that’s our secret, of course.
