South Korean police are investigating if the suicide Tuesday of a government employee was linked to the outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country.
Reports said the victim in his 30s and tagged as Mr. A was caught on CCTV camera ramming his car to the railing of the Dongjak Bridge, getting off the car and then jumping into the Han River around 4:57 a.m.
Rescuers retrieved the body of the victim from the water around 9 a.m., the reports added.
The victim was an employee at the Office of Emergency Safety Planning under the Ministry of Justice. The office is in charge of national emergency situations and crisis management.
