SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan — A brewery plant still under construction here will initially require 700 workers but would subsequently need 2,000 more as full plant operation is achieved.
San Miguel Brewery Inc. (SMB) is currently accepting applicants to fill up the 700 positions that it needs, particuarly residents of the province of Pangasinan. The brewery being constructed sits midway between the Bolasi and Mabilao barangays in the province.
According to Pangasinan 4th district Rep. Christopher de Venecia, he is accepting resumes of applicants for the job vacancies since SMB does not yet have its own office at the town center.
“The positions opened are for skilled and non-skilled workers. The applicants should, however, place on their resume or bio-data the kind of work applicable to the skills of the applicant,” he said.
According to him, the hiring of 700 applicants is just a prelude to the hiring of more than 2,000 needed for the brewery when it is fully operational.
He also said San Fabian can become an investment hub of companies looking to expand in north Luzon as its communities are peaceful and the place does not flood easily.
The place is also proximate to the large cities of the Ilocos region as Baguio and Dagupan City and to areas up the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union expressway, De Venecia said.
The congressman said residents interested in applying could submit their resume to his office on A.B. Fernandez Avenue Dagupan City, which is open during office hours.
SMB president Roberto Huang said the new brewery has capacity of two million hectoliters.
“This move also signifies that we at SMB believe that as our business grows, so is our contribution to countryside development, and in this case, the development of the municipality of San Fabian,” he said.
The SMB brewery will be constructed at the company’s more than 100-hectare property in San Fabian.
