Pat C. Santos

A Chinese national is now fighting for his life after he was shot by a lone motorcycle rider with whom he had an argument while driving early dawn on Sunday at P. Burgos Street in Ermita, Manila
Based on the initial investigation by PCpl Nasser Ismael and PSMS Aldrin Bacho of the Manila Police District-Police Station 5, the victim was identified as Wenyan Shao, 43, businessman, and resident of Binondo, Manila.

A witness, Leo Gamballa, saw Shao and the unknown motorcycle rider arguing as they were driving toward the National Museum at 1:15 a.m. yesterday.

As they approached the traffic light before the museum, the rider pulled out a gun and shot the businessman, causing him to lose control and hit the center island outside the museum.

The rider immediately sped away along P. Burgos Drive.

The Chinese was immediately brought to Manila Doctors Hospital by witnesses and a patrolling Tactical Motorcycle Riders unit.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound on his left cheek, caused by the bullet that entered through the windshield of the driver’s side of the car.

The Manila city government has provided the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the incident courtesy of the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for police evaluation and identification of the suspect.

Meanwhile, a Chinese national is in “hot water” after a viral video showing him repeatedly spitting and having an argument with the security guard at a fast-food restaurant in Masangkay, Binondo.

The suspect was identified as Jinxiong Cai, alias Willy Choi, 35, a resident of Orchard Garden in Masangkay.

In the video which was posted on a social media site, Cai created an incident at the store at about 2 a.m. on 22 February. Not only did he spit on the floor, but he also exchanged unsavory words with the security and crew of the restaurant.

Likewise, CCTV footage retrieved from Orchard Garden showed him intentionally pushing two motorcycles parked outside the building, causing them to fall on the pavement and be damaged.

He will be charged with grave scandal, unjust vexation and malicious mischief before the Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.
