A jobless man was put behind bars early Saturday after being caught red-handed stealing money from the safety vault of a businessman.
The 29-year-old suspect, identified as Jovie Soriano, was arrested after businessman Eugene Cui saw him take over P52,000 worth of cash from his vault.
According to Caloocan police, the victim saw the suspect enter his room and suddenly forcing open his safe, which contained money. When the victim shouted at the suspect, he immediately scampered.
In his haste, Serrano left the vault open. It was then that the victim noticed that money, amounting of P52,000, was missing.
The victim reported the incident to Police Community Precinct 2, and a responding team was immediately dispatched.
The victim saw the suspect along Tuna Street, leading to his arrest by police officers.
He will be charged with qualified theft.
