BOCAUE, Bulacan—The Provincial Government of Bulacan, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, handed out assistance to almost 300 fire victims in Bocaue on Thursday.
Around 138 households from Barangay Antipona received half a sack of rice, a pack of clothes and an emergency box with sleeping mats, blankets, pillows and mosquito nets from the provincial government headed by Gov. Daniel Fernando, while financial assistance depending on fire damages was estimated for each household.
Barangay chairman Milagros Dabu expressed her gratitude for the help that her constituents received after the fire last Tuesday, which was determined by the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to have started from an unattended LPG stove.
“We are thankful that no one was hurt from the fire. Thank you so much for the help we received. This is a big help for the people affected specially since most of their livelihood had been wiped out, and we are able to find reasons for them to smile whenever help comes by,” Dabu said.
The affected families are currently staying at the New Municipal Hall of Bocaue in Barangay Igulot in Bocaue, Bulacan where various activities and film-viewings are being held every day to ease the trauma of the victims.
