Two suspected motorcycle thieves pointed to a rookie policeman as their accomplice following an entrapment operation staged by Quezon City police.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) acting director PCol. Ronnie Montejo said suspects Allan Hermosa, 37, of Camarin, Caloocan City, and Carlito Felicitas, 32, from Malaria, Caloocan City named as their cohort PCpl. Michael de la Cruz, 27, of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, presently assigned at the Novaliches Police Station (PS-4).
John Ernie Abelardo, 27, of Binangonan, Rizal, personally sought assistance at PS-4 after he saw parts of his stolen motorcycle were being sold by Hermosa on a social media site.
He said his bike was parked outside a supermarket on Gen. Luis Street, Barangay Novaliches Proper last 13 April 2019.
Elements of PS-4, under PLt. Col. Hector Amancia, staged an operation where Abelardo acted as buyer, agreeing to meet the suspects outside a fast-food restaurant along Quirino Highway, Barangay Greater Lagro at around 9 a.m.
Seized from Hermosa and Felicitas were disassembled parts for a 2005 model blue Suzuki Shogun motorcycle, including its rims which Abelardo positively identified through the markings on them.
Hermosa and Felicitas were then brought to the police station for investigation, wherein they pointed to De la Cruz as the one who ordered them to sell the motorcycle parts.
Cases for carnapping and violation of Presidential Decree 1612, or the Anti-Fencing Law, will be filed against the suspects at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Aside from criminal cases, Montejo ordered the District Investigation and Detective Management Division to initiate administrative proceedings against De la Cruz.
He reminded his men that this should serve as a stern warning that the QCPD leadership fully supports the Philippine National Police’s intensified internal cleansing campaign under acting PNP chief PLt. Gen. Archie Gamboa.
