President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday evening commended government agencies, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development, for their immediate action in rescuing and providing relief aid to those affected by the ongoing eruption of Taal Volcano.
“From what I gathered, I am pleased and happy that all concerned agencies have done their best,” said Duterte during a briefing conducted by government officials in Batangas following his ocular inspection of the affected areas.
Duterte cautioned, however, that government and the public must remain on full alert as when it comes to volcanoes nobody really knows what’s happening inside. He also asked people to pray and to help one another to weather the crisis.
“The fact is no one was killed or (have gotten) seriously sick,” the Chief Executive said in commending the swift action of national and local government units.
