Business establishments taking advantage of the high demand for face masks due to Sunday’s Taal Volcano eruption have been warned by the City of Manila.

Manila City Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan said the local government received reports that N95 masks are being sold by as much as P200 from the original price P25 to P30.

She also ordered the Manila Bureau of Permits and Manila Licenses Office to inspect businesses selling the protective products.

N95 masks were sold out in most shops as of Sunday night following advisories about the hazardous effects of ashfall.

The National Capital Region was not spared of ashfall.
