Drug sting catches 12 suspects

The Quezon City Police District arrested 12 drug suspects on the first week of the new year in a series of anti-illegal drug and anti-criminality operations.

Two suspects, nabbed by the Station Drug Enforcement Unit from Kamuning Police Station under PLt. Col. Louise Benjie Tremor, were identified as Paulo Pantanilla, 23, and Nonato Espiritu Jr., from Montalban Rizal.

They were arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted at around 10:30 p.m. of 5 January along Monte de Piedad Street, Barangay Immaculate Concepcion.

Police seized about 500 grams of dried marijuana leaves with an estimated value of P60,000, the buy-bust money and two cellular phones.

The Masambong Police Station under PLt. Col. Rodrigo Soriano arrested in a buy-bust John Robert Gonzales, 38, and Noel Cayago, 32, both from Barangay Masambong at about 6:20 p.m. on 5 January at Barangay Apolonio Samson. Confiscated were four sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P17,000, a cellular phone, and the buy-bust money.

Operatives also took custody of Gadis Guardian, 21 and Gian Carlo Asistio, 23 after they were arrested at around 12:10 p.m. on 5 January by the security guards of SM City North EDSA for possession of a sachet of marijuana worth about P1,800.

The Novaliches Police Station under PLt. Col. Rossel Cejas busted Jayson Lorenn de Vera, 28, Vicente Alvarez, 41, both from Novaliches, and Leo Hernandez, 22, from Barangay Kaligayahan at about 4:30 p.m. on 5 January in front of a gas station along Sauyo Road, Barangay Sauyo.

Seized were about two grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P13,600 and the buy-bust money.

Also arrested was Ferdinand Calixtro, 25. Initially accosted for possession of a bladed weapon, but when frisked, two sachets of suspected shabu were found in his possession.

The Galas Police Station under officer-in-charge PMaj. Bernardo Pascua arrested Jomar Belisario, 26, and rescued a 16-year-old male, from Barangay Sto. Domingo at around 3 a.m. on 6 January at Maria Clara Street corner Don Pepe Street, Barangay Sto. Domingo. Confiscated from them were three sachets of suspected shabu estimated to cost about P6,800 and the buy-bust money.

Cases for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects, while an additional charge for illegal possession of deadly weapon will be filed against Calixtro. The minor was turned over to the Quezon City-Social Services and Development Department, while confiscated illegal drugs will be turned over to the Crime Laboratory Office.
