The Philippine Navy will hold a recognition dinner on Monday for 38 of its personnel who competed in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games late last year.
The event will be held at Acero Hall, Naval Station Jose Francisco inside Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City, according to Lt. Commander Maria Christina Roxas, the Nabvy public affairs office chief.
A total of 160 soldier-athletes joined the 30th SEA Games. They contributed 54 medals: 26 gold, 15 silver and 13 bronze medals from arnis, athletics, baseball, boxing, cycling, kurash (judo), Muay Thai obstacle course racing, rowing, sailing, sepak takraw, shooting, softball, soft tennis, taekwondo, water polo, weightlifting and wrestling events.
The Philippines was overall champion after winning 149 golds on top of 117 silver and 121 bronze medals in 56 sporting events. (PNA)
