Whatever the reason, there is always a cause for celebration. And whatever state you may be in, it should be an opportunity to enjoy life and beer, German beer that is.
What was initially an event to mark the marriage of a German monarch in 1810 has now become a worldwide phenomenon that is held not only in Munich but other places in the world.
And Clark in Pampanga was the most recent place to experience Oktoberfest as Clark Marriott Hotel held the two-day event last 11 to 12 October that had free-flowing Weihenstephan beer, one of the finest German wheat beers and exquisite German food. And to complete the festive vibe, Munich-based band the AnTon Show entertained the guests.
“As compared to the real Oktoberfest, we have the right food, right drinks and we have a band that played in Munich before and they definitely know how to make a party. So, I think that based on what we organized, it was a great effort,” said Goeran Soelter, Clark Marriott general manager.
For the Oktoberfest in Clark Marriott, Soelter reported that a good number of people filled the tent at the parking lot just a few meters away from the hotel.
“Turn around, take a look because everybody has a party, which is the whole idea. It’s supposed to be fun and very relaxed so it looks like a real success,” added Soelter, who said that they had people who flew in from as far as Cebu, given the close proximity of the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport to the hotel, just to attend the event.
At the center of the event is of course the Weihenstephan beer, which according to Soelter is available in any of at the Clark Marriott Hotel’s bars.
But to enjoy the Oktoberfest, Soeter clarified that it is not necessary to drink beer and get drunk.
“Not really because there are quite a few people in the tent who are drinking water but I think it is more of the atmosphere and the band and everyone being happy which is the idea, not necessary to get drunk but to have fun,” Soelter said.
Clark Marriott Hotel, the first and only internationally branded 5-star hotel in Clark Freeport Zone and in north of Manila, is being geared as go-to-place for festive events.
“It is basically bringing one part of Germany to Clark that our guests and the Kapampangan can enjoy —– German Oktoberfest that is truly worth-experiencing first. We hope to continue bringing more firsts to our valued guests, partners, and even our associates,” Soelter added.
