The end is near for Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founding chairman Jose Maria Sison and the New People’s Army (NPA) now that their lies have been exposed before the international community, Lorraine Marie Badoy, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Undersecretary, said yesterday.

Badoy, reacting to the Daily Tribune exclusive “Plug tap or cut ties,” provided updates on the campaign around the European Union to stop funding for CPP- NPA-National Democratic Front (NDF)-linked organizations.

Badoy was joined by leaders of Indigenous Peoples (IP) led by Datu Malapandow Nestor L. Apas, Bae Magdalina Iligan, Bae Matumpis Anna Jessamae Crisostomo, Bae Chiary Balinan, Datu Awing Apuga, Datu Joel Dahusay, Datu Asenad Bago and Datu James Binayao.

“Their days are numbered. They are finished. All these years that they’ve committed these crimes in the dark, in the shadow and now I’m really dragging them out of the light because all these crimes were committed away from the sight of the public. And we want the people to know what has been done to the very vulnerable members of society. They should be afraid. We have no fear,” Badoy said.

“This (communist insurgency) has been going on for decades under our noses. It had to end,” she added.

The PCOO official said about 60 to 90 percent of NPA came from the IP sector.

‘Gifted hypocrites’

She also lambasted critics, particularly Sison and their leftist organizations, for claiming that the IP leaders who have been helping government exposed their wrongdoing are paid hacks.

“Of course, they have to say something because we are hitting them, these groups. Joma Sison, the CPP-NPA-NDF, which is declared as a terrorist group, are a bunch of gifted liars and hypocrites,” Badoy said.

“Don’t they have anything to say? I challenge them to sit down with these IP because these IP in fact, we are the ones trying to restrain them because they really want to go to The Hague and talk to Joma Sison. They are the ones who are coming forward. Can you call that fake?” she added.

“Maybe he is the one who is fake. They refused to face us, not one of them, but we always challenge them,” she added.

Badoy challenged Sison and his group to face them and not hide in another country.

“Face to face, that’s what we want. But the thing is they just are fantastic liars. They’ve been employing revolutionary dual tactics which is fantastic lying. For 50 years, they’ve been destroying our country,” she said.

Not a junket

Badoy also reiterated in the same interview that their travel to Europe with the IP delegation from 10 September to 4 October 2019 was not a junket and was purely work.

The group was in Rome, Italy from 10 to 14 September; Geneva, Switzerland from 14 to 19 September; Brussels, Belgium from 19 to 24 September; Berlin and Cologne, Germany from 24 to 29 September; and Paris, France from 29 September to 3 October.

As head of strategic communications for the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, she went to Europe together with Maj. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr., Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations and spokesman of NTF-ELCAC, and their party went to Europe as part of the government campaign to inform several countries funding non-governmental organizations (NGO) that the money they are donating is being used to finance terrorism in the country.
