KALIBO, Aklan — Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go said he is committing to pool resources to finance the P20 million needed for the rehabilitation of the Kalibo Public Market, which burned down in an early morning fire last week.

Go was here Thursday afternoon to personally meet with the 276 victims of the fire incident, distributing cash assistance and grocery packs to the affected vendors while giving funding assurance for market repairs.

“I will personally talk to President Rodrigo Duterte to fast track the release of funds for the rehabilitation,” said Go during his public address held at the Magsaysay Park here.

Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Health were also present to assist the victims’ needs.

For his part, Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores said that he is also willing to open a portion of the Toting Reyes Street, which is adjacent to the market, as temporary venue for stall owners who have been displaced by the fire.
