The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) denied reports that pork barrel scam queen Janet Lim Napoles was among the inmates freed under the good conduct time allowance (GCTA) law of the Article 29 of the Revised Penal Code.
A document showing the list of released persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from 2014 to 20 August 2019 included Napoles. However, the list showed Napoles’ case is rape and with an incorrect prison number.
Napoles is no. 275 on the list with prison number N211P-2332. “N” means that inmate is jailed at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa while “211” is the year of admission.
The businesswoman was convicted in 2015 and 2018 and was locked up at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong.
She was given prison number C215P-083 in 2015 after she was convicted of serious illegal detention. Napoles was subsequently acquitted by the Court of Appeals on May 2017.
She was then transferred to Camp Bagong Diwa to face plunder charges and was returned to CIW after she was sentenced to reclusion perpetua for her involvement in the Priority Develoment Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam.
