Briefs: DoE personnel undergo REDAS training




Key Department of Energy (DoE) personnel participated in the training of the Hazard, Impact Assessment and Exposure Database Development through the use of Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment System (REDAS) at Kasa Luntian from 2 to 7 September this year.

The training was done as part of the DoE’s disaster-preparedness operations, with the REDAS serving as a key element in quickly assessing possible hazards brought about by earthquakes and other natural calamities the country is prone to.

“We must give due importance to disaster preparation because of the uncertainty of when and where it may strike. The DoE is focused on its task of ensuring that energy services go on, even in times of natural or man-made calamities. That is why we are capacitating our public servants, so that they may perform their duties even at times of disasters, in order to better help our kababayans,” said Secretary Alfonso Cusi.

Phoenix Petroleum bags 2nd Award of Excellence from Philippine Quill Awards

Phoenix Petroleum’s biggest campaign yet — the nationwide launch of its fuel additive, Phoenix PULSE Technology — has been recognized at the recently concluded Philippine Quill Awards 2019, marking the company’s second consecutive Award of Excellence from the prestigious award-giving body. This was the second consecutive year the company bagged the honor after it earned its first Quill Award of Excellence for the “Pinoy Tsuper Hero,” a first-of-its-kind advocacy program for public utility drivers that won under the Community Relations category in 2018.


Phoenix Petroleum takes home two trophies from the Philippine Quill Awards 2019 — an Award of Excellence and an Award of Merit for the launch of Phoenix PULSE Technology and the social media campaign for the Phoenix PULSE Fuel Masters, respectively.

Titled “Project PULSE: Introducing Better Journeys for Filipinos,” the campaign’s excellent use of communication to achieve business goals and make a difference in the society impressed the board of judges, thus, was given the top award in the Communication Management-Marketing, Advertising and Brand Communication category.

HOPE earns place as 2019 Best For The World honoree

ABS-CBN’s Wildflower’ shown overseas

ABS-CBN continues to evolve into a global media and entertainment company as another one of its wildly successful TV series makes it groundbreaking launch in three French-speaking territories in the Pacific and Indian oceans, which aired in 19 August via French network, Outre-mer la 1ere.

“Wildflower,” which was top billed by “The Killer Bride” actress Maja Salvador, debuted in New Caledonia, Polynesia and Reunion, which was made possible through ABS-CBN’s partnership with Ampersand Fiction, a French content distributor. It is also being aired in all French-speaking African countries through the deal made with Startimes and is expected to invade TV screens in Madagascar beginning October.

Marriot Int’l brings AC Hotels to Malaysia

Marriott International Inc. on Tuesday announced the signing of a landmark agreement with Malaysia’s YTL Hotels to bring the AC Hotels by Marriott brand to Malaysia. Under the agreement, three existing hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kuantan will fly the AC Hotels by Marriott brand flag following a strategic conversion. AC Hotels by Marriott has an international portfolio of remarkable properties worldwide inspired by the European style. The hotels are set to bring a new standard to the hospitality landscape in the country with a promise of “A New Way to Hotel” when they are scheduled to open under the AC Hotels by Marriott brand in December 2019.

GoWiFi powers Araneta Center

Globe partnered with Araneta Center to allow more customers to enjoy free WiFi services using Globe’s high-speed GoWiFi service. As a bonus, the telco also launched the free 1GB GoWiFi access service for Globe prepaid and TM customers for every registration of GoSAKTO, GoSURF and EasySURF worth P50 and above that they can use in any GoWiFi hotspot.
