The initial batch of National ID system registration will be exclusive to beneficiaries and employees of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).
PSA Assistant Sec. Lourdines Dela Cruz said a pilot held on Monday, 2 September, wants to assure the system’s efficiency and functionality. The public registration will roll out by mid-2020.
Dela Cruz also eased the public’s worry on data safety, assuring that all personal information will only be available to PSA.
The National ID System will be used for application for eligibility, services, and access to social welfare and benefits granted by the government; passports and driver’s license; tax-related transactions; admission in schools and government hospitals; opening of bank accounts; registration and voting purposes; transactions for employment purposes; and cardholder’s criminal records and clearances.
