Jollibee Canada sets out to build a network of 100 outlets in Canada within five years after opening its first store in Alberta, Edmonton—and the fifth in the country—on Friday, 16 August.
The chain recently opened other locations in Winnipeg and the Greater Toronto Area where local consumers lined up for hours.
“Since opening locations in Scarborough and Mississauga over the past year, Jollibee Canada has been looking forward to serving Edmonton and making it easier for them to satisfy all of their Jollibee cravings,” said Maribeth Dela Cruz, president of Jollibee Foods Corporation North America.
“Although Jollibee is wildly popular among Filipino-Canadians, the brand also attracts a diverse mix of adventurous foodies, curious locals and families alike.”
Dela Cruz said that since the company announced plans to enter Canada, it has received a high level of feedback from expatriate Filipinos across the country and others who have got to know the Jollibee brand in other countries it already operates.
Jollibee hosted an advance tasting of its menu for 50 customers the day before the actual opening, a Jollibee first. The winners joined the raffle via Jollibee Canada’s Facebook page.
On opening day, Jollibee awarded one year’s supply of Chickenjoy to the first 50 people in line who made a purchase of at least $25.
Jollibee has more than 200 international branches including in the US, Canada, Hong Kong, Macau, Brunei, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Italy and in the United Kingdom.
In North America, Jollibee opened its first store in 1998 in Daly City, California. It now has 42 stores across the region, in the states of California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Washington and Virginia. (Inside Retail Asia, Resto Biz)
