Valenzuela City Mayor Rex Gatchalian has promised to issue permits for Department of Transportation (DoTr) projects as he offered 101 percent support to the building of public transport facilities in the city.
“Permits, wala kayong magiging problema sa amin (you will have no problem with us). Call me anytime you need me,” Mayor Gatchalian told DoTr Secretary Arthur Tugade and transport officials in a meeting at the Valenzuela City Hall Thursday.
Tugade and his team paid a courtesy visit to the mayor and Valenzuela City Rep. Wes Gatchalian and presented updates on DoTr projects and programs.
“The LGU (local government unit) of Valenzuela is 101% supportive of the projects of the DoTr. We know that they are good for Valenzuela and the country. What’s good for the city is good for the country,” said Gatchalian.
The mayor also assured that the city has taken care of right of way issues.
“Sa issue ng informal settler families (ISF), the (resettlement housing) units are ready, the families are ready, and the LGU is ready to pick them up and transfer to the houses,” said Gatchalian.
Tugade and Gatchalian assigned point persons from the DoTr and the city for a faster, direct, and more efficient coordination in addressing concerns, issues and queries related to DoTr projects.
Valenzuela City hosts the depots of Philippine National Railway Clark Phase 1, a railway connecting Clark in Pampanga with Tutuban in Manila.
The City also hosts the Metro Manila Subway project and the Philippine Railway Institute.
Also attending the meeting were DoTr Undersecretary for Finance Garry de Guzman, Usec. for Railways Timothy John Batan, Usec. for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark de Leon, Assitant Secretary for Procurement and Project Implementation Giovanni Lopez, Asec. for Special Concerns and I-ACT Chief Manny Gonzales, Northrail Chairman Eddie Quintos, LTFRB Board Member Antonio Gardiola Jr., and DOTr Road Sector Consultant Alberto Suansing.
