Every parent would be willing to take extreme sacrifices just to assure that their children will not experience the sufferings they went through.

As father of the nation, Mr. Duterte had to deal with strife and other problems magnified several times from that of an ordinary family

A father is relied on to provide the wherewithal of a family in his best capacity as the breadwinner and with it being the role model of the children.

Taken for the entire nation, President Rodrigo Duterte is looked upon not only by his children who are themselves have assumed leadership duties in their own capacities.

Mr. Duterte, using his patented razor-sharp words had warned criminals and drug traffickers not to spoil the future of the country or he’ll kill them.

Citing those fighting words, his critics would claim that he is into extrajudicial killings involving tens of thousands of individuals.

The same words, nonetheless, would have come from a father who is only protective of his children in a world that is becoming dangerous by the day.

President Duterte’s frustration, as that of any parent, is that Filipinos should not be condemned to a life of misery.

As father of the nation, Mr. Duterte had to deal with strife and other problems magnified several times from that of an ordinary family.

The frustrations that come with being a father was also frequently related by President Duterte who jokingly said the problem confronting him as leader of the nation sometimes make him want to hang himself.

Among the pestering problems Duterte referred to were the communist insurgency and the illegal drug trade.

On the communist threat, for instance, he had not completely shut the door on the rebels as he would often said that he does not relish Filipinos killing each other referring to the New People’s Army and the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

One of the pioneer American astronauts Walter Schirra said in recognition of a father’s huge responsibility in a family “You don’t raise heroes, you raise sons. And if you treat them like sons, they’ll turn out to be heroes,” which rings true in the nation’s three-year experience with President Duterte.

He had said what he does is mostly for the generations of Filipinos that will shape the future of the country and everything follows.
