In celebration of World Immunization Week, Pfizer, together with American Chamber of Commerce, held a forum regarding the importance of vaccinations. The forum discussed the different issues surrounding vaccinations in the Philippines and how to address the problems.
“Everybody must do their part in helping spread the correct information about vaccinations.
With good vaccine coverage, we could prevent as many as 2.5 million deaths globally. By vaccinating your children, you could easily prevent diseases such as measles and polio,” said Dr. Lulu Bravo, guest speaker.
In the past few years, the Philippines has experienced a dramatic drop in vaccine confidence, from 90 percent coverage in 2015, to only 35 percent coverage in 2018.
“Restoring public trust and confidence in vaccines is crucial to preventing outbreaks. We should all play our part in making sure that our families are vaccinated against easily preventable diseases so outbreaks can be prevented, and deaths will lessen. We’re all committed to making the world a better place through the science of vaccinations” said Andreas Riedel, Pfizer country manager.
