The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is set to settle the land dispute between them over a huge parcel of land, to which both agencies claim to be theirs.

This was learned from Finance Undersecretary Antonette Tionko, who also serves as PPA’s alternate board member from the Department of Finance (DoF) while noting that there was no mention of the timetable yet.

“I think they’re discussing (the ownership), because PPA claims and GSIS claims it’s theirs, so it’s something that must be resolved,” Tionko told reporters during sidelines of the Management Association of the Philippines General Membership meeting on Friday.

According to her, they haven’t yet discussed things regarding the matter as it was more of the Department of Transportation’s concern rather than the DoF.

In addition, the Finance executive noted that the International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), who is currently occupying the land need not to pay to GSIS as it was under a concessional agreement.

“It’s a concession. Why would ICTSI pay them? Did they give the concession? No. It’s a concession to operate,” Tionko said.
